York Placebrand
The solution: through extensive research, community and stakeholder engagement we crafted a new narrative for York that brought to life strengths in science, innovation and social impact, repositioning the City as one that is still making history, rather than stuck in the past.
The result: over 7000+ people involved through an extensive engagement programme. Strategy adopted by institutional stakeholders, informed City’s decision to become UK’s first car-free city centre and supported York’s bid to become the home of Active Travel England.
The challenge: in a city where the tourism economy was so strong that it was drowning out other sectors, the Council wanted a place brand to guide decision-making that would demonstrate to locals that they were valued, shape place marketing and diversify York’s reputation.
